So a few months back (I'm talking 4 or 5 months ago) I began brainstorming ideas for his party. Living overseas you have to be proactive and think in advance because it can sometimes take weeks for things to arrive here. So I began pinning away on Pinterest and after throwing around a few ideas we ultimately decided on Dr. Seuss! Robbie loved Dr. Seuss as a kid and I was down for it because there were SO many ideas for a cute party.
Now this was my 1st party to plan...EVER. I wanted it to be awesome. First things first I booked the little venue. It is a big room on our base that you can rent for a few hours. Our little Italian living room was not going to work so once that was booked I was ready to plan!
First, I found the outfit I wanted Noah to wear. I knew I could make this myself for much cheaper than ordering it. Thankfully my mom came thru by going to JoAnn Fabrics and picking up supplies for me. Was it perfect? No but it looked adorable and didn't cost me $50 bucks to get covered in cake.
The decor I kept easy. I found a great priced party pack on Amazon that included all the cups, plates, utensils, balloons and streamers. I ordered a banner and some fun straws on Amazon as well. Then I bought books to use as center pieces on the tables as well for Noah to have later. I got extra table cloths, streamers and a banner for his highchair to match. I mostly stuck with the red, aqua and white for the color scheme. I ordered a chalk board downloadable print off Etsy and my sister printed it for me. I was able to use this in his professional 1 year photos, as decor at the party and now as a keep sake. Totally worth it! I got chalk pain and painted a cheap frame for it. It has all of Noah's "stats" on it. I loved it.
I wanted the food to be Dr. Seuss themed. Everything from pretzels down to dessert was something related to Dr. Seuss. So fun!
Cup cakes shaped to look like The Cat In the Hat's hat
Party Favors were swedish fish with a fun label and then I did some other goodies inside of red polka dot bags.
I am so happy with how his party turned out and I am pretty sure I've set the bar high for myself in future years to come. Hope you enjoyed the mini scrap book of our Seuss party.
Wow!! such a cute baby.
ReplyDeleteKid’s parties are always fun. We celebrated my kid’s birthday a few days ago in one of the cutest Los Angeles event venues. All of his friends were there and it turned out to be really great. He had so much fun, and got so many gifts!
