While in Texas I trained at the gym on base. We bought all our food from the comissary and had a room with a full kitchen. I was able to get in all my clean meals. I did however, induldge a few times. Like on frozen yogurt. It is pretty hard for me to turn down some frozen yogurt! It is one of my fav treats. I had it guilt free because I kept up with my training and cardio.
We had a blast driving home from Texas. We packed all our meals in a cooler and kept them light so my stomach didn't get upset in the car. I had chicken, celery and PB, hard boiled egg whites, quest bars and water.
As soon as we got into our town Robbie had to eat his fav mexican food for dinner. He has been dreaming about this enchilada style burrito since basic training! haha. While I did have some chips and salsa, I ordered a modified salad. You can ALWAYS modify your order and add things, just ask!
Our pooches were so happy to see Robbie. Especially Zoe, she is a total daddy's girl!
Once we were home we immediately had to dive into getting things done for our move. Thursday we had to go file for my Visa. Please keep your fingers crossed it comes back ASAP so I don't have to travel to Italy separately from Robbie. We also took the pups to their vet appointment on base to get their microchips and rabie shots taken care of before they can fly. They took those needles like little champs! In a few weeks we'll have to take them back to get their health certificates 10 days before we fly out. As of right now, we plan on leaving AZ August 15. We are going to drive with the dogs from AZ to Baltimore. It is too hot for them to fly out of AZ with our extreme heat so we are just going to drive. We will then drop our car off at the port in Baltimore before we fly out. We will fly out of Baltimore on the 20th and will arrive in Germany the 21st for a 3 hour lay over and then continue on to our future home of ITALY! The movers come the 5th but our stuff won't arrive until August 8th! Yes, I am kinda freaking out about that but Robbie says he'll roll all my clothes so they will fit into the 2 suit cases I can bring on the plane. I'm not leaving a single work-out pant behind! haha.
On Friday we were able to cancel our cell service by August 20th and get our iphones unlocked so that we can set up service in Italy. We met my Aunt and Uncle for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. They came out from Colorado so they could see us before we move. I ordered salmon and veggies but split a slice of cheese cake with Robbie. Saturday morning we moved all our stuff out of storage and it was just Robbie and I muscling our couches and furniture. Talk about a sweaty workout!
Saturday night was Robbie's graduation party/going away party. It was Italy themed. Robbie's mom worked hard on all the decorations and made 3 different Italian sauces and all types of pasta. There were Italian appetizers and of course desserts. I had spaghetti squash with some of the sauces and then eat some desserts. If you haven't had Canolis or Venetian cookies you are missing out! If they are this good here, I can't imagine how it'll be in Italy! We had a really great time and got to say, "see-ya later" to some of our friends and family.
Ok so as you can see I had a few indulgences here and there over the last week but it didn't kill me because I had balance. It is so important to live life and not constantly be worrying but at the same time be conscience of what you're eating. I had chips and salsa but ordered a super healthy salad instead of a burrito, salmon and veggies and then split cheesecakes, etc. During all of this I kept up with my training and used those little treats as fuel for my work-outs. What you stay consistent in is what keeps you on track. Consistency is key! Normally, I wouldn't have had that many treats because I rarely eat out and parties only happen every once in a while.
Now, I do have a photo-shoot planned this Saturday so my eating changed yesterday. I want to look tight and not hold any water. I plan on eating more fats like avocados, coconut oil, almonds etc and no carbs other than from veggies. I am drinking 2 gallons of water a day, staying on top of my cardio, eliminating artificial sweeteners. These are all little tricks that help me get ready for an event. I will be getting in my training early the next 2 weeks because Robbie will be using the car to drive to the recruiting office. No excuses here!
After that I will slowly be adding more carbs back into my diet and eating them around my training schedule. When we are on the road I will be eating lighter again. For my body, I have to base my carb intake on my activity level. I am very sensitive to certain foods.
Now, as for my fitness plans after the photo-shoot...stay tuned because it is very exciting! I hope you all join me every step of the way.
Life is going to be a crazy roller coaster the next few weeks so bear with me! This time next month I'll be blogging from Italy! :)
