We took an 8 day, 7 night cruise.
First stop- Bari, Italy
Sitting in front of the castle |
The women of the town make homemade pasta everyday to sell to locals, restaurants and tourists |
Beautiful Church |
My husband pretending to be pregnant haha. |
Olympia was where the first recorded Olympic games were held. It was an amazing piece of history they are trying to preserve as much as possible. Most was destroyed from 6th century earth quakes.
Santorini is where I truly fell in love with Greece. I told Robbie I want a house one day with a blue door. It was so beautiful there. Because Santorini is an island we had to take a tender boat off the ship to reach it. Then we got to take a cable car to get to the top. When it was time to get back on the ship we decided that the line was WAY too long for the cable car and it was so hot that maybe it would be faster to take the steps down to where the tender boats were. Yeah, 580 steps...it took us forever because the steps were SO slippery I was trying not to fall, and you had to watch out for the crazy Donkeys! Robbie almost got mauled by one. It was pretty scary but makes for an interesting story now! My calves were so sore after that hike!
The cable car we took to the top. |
The famous church. |
Look at all those blue doors!! |
Robbie enjoying a gyro and Greek beer! |
You had the option to take a donkey up or down the steps. They were slipping just as bad as we were...with people on their backs. Yeah, no thanks! |
You can see the zig zag of the 580 steps here. |
Santorini was made from an enormous volcanic eruption. That's why there are red, black and white lines. |
Fourth stop- Athens, Greece
Athens was not what I was expecting at all. You see pictures of the Acropolis and other ancient temples but I wasn't expecting it to be plopped in the middle of a fast paced city! The area surrounding the monuments reminded me of NYC. It was really cool. We loved it there and had the best gyro.
Arriving in the port of Athens |
Outside the stadium of where the first modern Olympic games were held |
Fast paced city! |
The Erechtheion was built about 420 BC. The roof is supported by 6 figures of maidens. Athena and Poseidon-Erechtheus were worshipped in the divided cella. |
I just loved this shot. The pillars so beautiful and have so much detail |
Baby P in front of the Acropolis! |
Enjoying the sunset on our balcony after we got back from the pool |
Corfu was breathtakingly beautiful! I have never seen water so clean, clear and blue, but being an AZ girl I guess it was easy to impress me.
We took a boat ride to explore the inside of the caves where the water is incredibly blue and green! |
At the highest point of the island |
